The Simply Luxurious Life®: Books, Books, Everywhere!

Books, Books, Everywhere!

“I must have books everywhere. They’re the soul of a room—they reveal the taste, the interests, and the secrets of whoever lives there.”
—Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, April 02

So what are your books saying about you as they lay on the coffee table, or are stacked on your shelves? Would it give an accurate depiction of the person who resides in your home?  If you’re like me, it would reveal a forever evolving rotation of interests. I’ve noticed in the past few years, I’ve included more non-fiction books than ever before, but I clearly have a predilection for fashion, home decor and classic novels.  Europe also tends to be a common theme in my collection of comfy summertime fictional books, so I’d have to say I have a desire to travel as well.

Out of curiosity, do you agree with the whispered message your books are sharing with visitors as they come into your home? And if so, what is the message?

Here’s to a great week and hopefully many hours of found time to catch up on your pleasure reading.

I read all kinds of books, but I read so much that I borrow most of them. I don't have the space or money to keep up with my book habit!

That is such a great quote and photo of DVF, who is my fashion icon btw :) I love books so much, was just thinking that the next thing I want to do in my house is add book shelves. My big purchases seem to be all fashion/style/interior design books, but I love reading and one of my goals is to start making it through my pile of fiction books that have been accumulating. Loved this post!

I am a design book fiend! I can't own enough design books. Etcetera by Sibella Court, A Flair for Living by Charlotte Moss and Domestic Art: Curated Interiors are my favorites right now, but it's always changing. Love that picture of DVF! She reminds me so much of Susan Sarandon.
Have a great day!

Most of my books are left behind in Germany. They are stuck in big boxes. I know, not the adequate place for them. In the end of the year I plan to move from Brazil to London, before I'll visit my parents to sort my books. Some I will sell at the flea market or amazon and some I will keep and take with me to London.
Most of the books I have read in the past were biographies, now I'm reading more fashion and fictional books.

xoxo Sandra
