Off To A Good Start!
A night owl or an early bird? Which category would you fall under if you had to choose? Whether it is because of my family upbringing, my body clock or simply because of my interests, I would most definitely say I am an early bird.
I also find that I am becoming more and more comfortable tucking myself into bed at an earlier hour than I have in the past because I know I will be waking up earlier to try and fit everything into a day that I would like.
One of my main motivators for rising early is so that I don’t have to rush into my day. My intention is to savor it, to ease myself into what sometimes becomes the madness of the morning. I find that after I’m able to gradually crawl out of bed, take care of the dogs and myself, that I usually want to have time to take a few moments to sit with my cup of tea and catch up on the news of the day before rushing out the door. And the ideal place to nibble away at my breakfast, read a few headlines and prepare for the day would be in a cozy breakfast nook.
What a luxury to have a place in one’s own home that is exclusively created for the pleasure of taking in the morning. While I have the bones of such a place in my house, I’m still gathering ideas on how to mold it into a sanctuary that continually calls my name. So in an effort to gather some inspiration, I’ve compiled some photos below.
Out of curiosity, what is everybody’s morning routine? What are the items, events, food, newspapers, shows, or rituals that you need to accomplish in the morning in order to get your day off to a great start? I would love to hear.

I seem to have become an early bird and a night owl - the result - not enough sleep! I love every one of these gorgeous rooms. Leigh
I ADORE banquettes and I am a total night owl. My "routine" in the morning is short and sweet - basically getting dressed in the dark, cleaning up as much as possible, grabbing coffee and getting out. Morning and I are not friends.
Early bird, early bird, early bird! At least, I am if I've had a good night's sleep.
My morning "musts" are shower and breakfast. If I can work a combination of makeup, hair, running and/or playing the piano into that mix, I'm a happy girl.
What beautiful kitchens! Maybe I would be motivated to wake up earlier if I had a kitchen like that...but I'm definitely a night owl!
