Karlie Kloss – Vogue US – September 2010

All right, I’m going to be honest here.  My Vogue hasn’t arrived yet, so I’m tiding myself over with peeks here and there of what I will soon be enjoying one upcoming leisurely evening of magazine perusing.  Bear with me.

Karlie Kloss demands the attention of the lens in an editorial photographed by Peter Lindbergh in New York City in the recent September issue of Vogue US.  Combining the upcoming fall trends in fashion with the much talked about beauty trends (a la bright lips), Kloss looks very much the lady, but all about business in Chanel and Jil Sander tweed jackets, Moschino and Dries Van Noten wool coats and the plum tone lip color of Chanel’s Rouge Coco in Ballet Russe. Milla Jovovich – Escada –Fall 2010 Ad Campaign

I can remember vividly watching Return to the Blue Lagoon starring Milla Jovovich at the young age of 15 and even then being struck by her unique beauty – those piercing eyes and fierce bone structure.  And what amazes me even more today, is that at age 34 she looks more elegant, more refined and thus, more beautiful.  Maybe it is because I am closer to her current age, but truthfully, her genetic gifts astound me.  But at this age, she clearly is trying to preserve them and to that I say keep up the good work.

Jovovich appears in Escada’s Fall and Winter Ad Campaign photographed by Peter Lindbergh for the German company has pulled itself out of from the threats of  near bankruptcy last year. Looking elegant and stunning, she models a mix of the label’s day and evening wear throughout a theatre. A day of indulgence indeed.  To see all of the images, click here.

A Fashionable Tale

In the July issue of Vogue (Marion Cotillard cover – gorgeous!), Peter Lindbergh photographs Ewan McGregor and Natalia Vodianova in a lavish tale of betrayal by using the fall collections as his muse. I was quickly reminded of the femininity that graced the runways back in February, all of the belts, layers and brilliance from the designers (see my favorite looks).  Follow the story through pictures and see if you can make sense of what is actually going on.

Robin Wright (Penn?) – Vogue Italia June 2010

I always admire and appreciate the beauty of a woman in her forties and beyond more so than any young gorgeous model just beginning their career. The reason being is that as we all know, maintaining one’s beauty is an ongoing and conscious task, and while it does involve both inner and outer components, a beautiful woman who has weathered her twenties and thirties and continues to exude confidence and good looks is something that didn’t just happen, and should be applauded.

In this month’s issue of Vogue Italia, Peter Lindbergh strays away from his typical subjects in the world of modeling and shoots some exquisite photos of actress Robin Wright Penn who is a wonderful example of a woman of true beauty. At the age of 44, there may be a few lines here and there, but she owns them gracefully, and they speak of experiences and stories to tell.  Have a look at a unique collection of images.
