Splurge & Save Outfit: No. 23

As mentioned in this post from a couple years ago, a wrap dress is a wonderful essential item to have in your arsenal (or as we call it here on TSLL – a capsule wardrobe), and a black wrap dress is an even better idea. Why? It can take you from day to evening and also serve as the black dress that should hang in every woman’s closet. Diane von Furstenberg is the queen of wrap dresses, as I continually add one to my closet each year (remember to always choose one size larger than you usually do when purchasing DVF wraps), and it is her Jeanne dress with the collar that I particularly love to wear during the day.

However, other fashion houses also make great wrap dresses, and when I discovered that Banana Republic offered the same classic style at less than $100, I must admit, I thought about straying from my favorite designer. Either way, a wrap dress is flattering on nearly all shapes and sizes and is a great foundation for adding fun, signature accessories.
