The Simply Luxurious Life®: Come Gather Round

Come Gather Round

Something my family continues to do to this day whenever everyone is home is congregate around the island in the kitchen.  It is here we sit and have a conversation with whomever may be cooking at the moment.  It is here where a last little nibble of the dessert from earlier in the evening may be savored while we think about going to bed, but aren’t quite ready.  It is also here that all casual meals are held.

The kitchen has really become in the last few decades the most important room in the home because it is here that so many people have opened it up to the dining area and also added an island to accommodate the busy lives so many of us are now leading.  Today’s Rooms of Inspiration are an combination of kitchens that all incorporate the idea of an island.  Have a look.

My dream kitchen is a black kitchen with pops of colour; i'm talking black italian marble on the walls and floors with a butterfly motif bianca carrera slab worktop, the island units will all be coloured though :). White freaks me out because i go to the hospital often, so i rarely associate it with comfort in a house. So maybe black combined with a caramelised colour on the walls, the white colour can stay on the ceiling :)

I LOVE the kitchens with the sunflowers! This post reminds me of a picture/saying my mum had hanging up in our kitchen. It said "No matter where I serve my guests, they seem to like the kitchen best!" It's so true that the kitchen is usually the focus of many homes........I can only dream whilst living in a flat in Spain.

Kitchens are where the people in my home gather. I love all these white and bright kitchens you've shown. We're in the midst of major renovations, and a white kitchen will be at the end of it.

I totally agree! I would love to have a kitchen island one day! For now we live in an apartment with a small kitchen, but I have big dreams of having a house with an island that my whole family congregates around while we cook. Sigh! And how much do I love the monkey in the 8th photo?! So cute!

Also, I'm doing my first giveaway today, so please check it out if you get a chance!
