The Simply Luxurious Life®: Beauty In An Instant

Beauty In An Instant

One of the simplest luxuries I spend my money on is flowers for my home.  Whether it is one bud vase with a single stem or a bouquet of my favorite white hydrangeas, they instantly seem to perk up my mood as I walk in the door after a harried day at work.

However, there were times in the past, I must admit, when I would think, I shouldn’t be spending money on something that will only last for a few day or a week if I’m lucky.  Gradually, I have come to realize that the beauty and effort I place in my home is a reflection of how I feel about myself.  After all, one of the things I tend to notice immediately when I walk into someone else’s home is the fresh flowers, and I can’t help but feel welcomed without anyone saying a word.

Today’s Rooms of Inspiration are images that place the beauty of Mother Nature in the middle of the conversation - in the living room.  Have a look – whether it is three small vases or one beautiful arrangement, the cohesiveness of the room, the beauty of the room seems to come to together with the simple addition of fresh flowers of the season.

Fresh flowers immediately make a room feel "done" to me. Perfect timing as this reminded me to change the water in the two vases of sunflowers I have from a party I threw Sat;)

I used to work for a small company that every Monday morning would have a small bud vase of flowers delivered to each person's desk. They usually lasted the week and it was such a wonderful treat.

Cheers!

It's good for our chi to have living things around us like fish and plants. :) Lovely selection of pics showing how Nature is one fabulous designer herself. :)

I'm a huge fan of fresh flowers in a home. I think it adds such life to a room. Unfortunately this summer I haven't gotten around to having many because I was running around too much but I'm looking forward to things slowing down in the next few weeks. Can't wait to get some dahlias!

I too adore fresh flowers in a home. Just the other day I was at the grocery store and caught a glimpse of the floral department. I stopped in my tracks and thought to myself that I should buy some for the house but for whatever reason didn't. This solves it, I am getting some next time I am out and about. Thank you!

I am 100% in agreement with your post. When I was in college I had no money - I was paying my way through school and said to myself when I get my first apartment, I am buying fresh flowers every week. I truly believe that fresh flowers bring something to a home. I can't explain what it is - but it's a feeling. When I had money, I bought would buy my star gazers and white lily's - when I'm broke I stick with simple roses from my garden in jam jars or in bud vases. Flowers make me happy. Whether I am on a budget or not, my house will always have flowers - it's the one thing that always makes me happy and like my highlights...I'm not giving it up :)

I completely agree! I never feel bad about buying fresh flowers because they make me feel so good...and feeling good is all that matters! If money is an issue....find somewhere you can cut from the side of the road or something.

Flowers brighten every room every day! I wish I could have them in my house, but my cats eat them...boo. Oprah said fresh flowers in her house were her first indulgence when she started making her money. :)

Thank you for this. I think flowers really anchor a room. It's the icing on the cake or the cherry atop the sundae....it completes a room. My favorite thing to do is put a sunflower arrangement in my colorful living room and a bouquet of casablancas in the kitchen. Fresh florals brightens the home and my mood!
