The Simply Luxurious Life®: Wall Of Frames

Wall Of Frames

One of my favorite things to do to a bare wall whether it be in my office, bedroom, kitchen or living room is to organize a collection of framed photos, prints, illustrations, anything that is an expression of who I am.

There are many different schools of thought on how to organize and display them, but truthfully, choose which ever one tickles your fancy.  I have done the “random” collage of framed photos while using the same color of frame throughout or a very symmetrical design that exhibits order.

The key to doing a good job is to lay it out on the floor exactly as you would like it to appear before hanging anything on the walls.  Take precise measurements so they frame the piece of intended piece of furniture exactly as you would like, but beyond that, what you display is the dessert portion of the project.

Currently above my desk I have six black 12”x18” matted frames that display my favorite quote by Henry David Thoreau, two photos of my grandmother and grandfather capturing in time their personalities that continually inspire me, a photo I took at the foot of the Eiffel Tower looking upward, a photo during my first marathon on mile 17 (I was smiling, I think I might have been delirious) and a photo of one of my dogs.  I find myself repeatedly looking up for inspiration, a reminder of my determination and the love in my life.

Whatever your collage of frames includes (maybe it is simply made up of empty frames as you will see in one example below), just be sure it functions and reflects what you would like because after all, your home is your sanctuary.  A place to come home to and feel uplifted, comforted and rejuvenated.

Lovely pics. I feel rather empty inside at the moment, so I love the empty frames on the wall!

I love this. If I could do it in every room, I would.

OMG - love every single one of these images! Read somewhere that one way to unite a disparate collection of images is to align the outer borders - then whatever you do within doesn't really matter. Fun post!
