The Simply Luxurious Life®: The Allure of White

The Allure of White

So simple, yet so luxurious.  There really is something impressive about white in a room whether it is completely the color of choice or if the furniture is the only aspect clad in the neutral tone.  A sense of calm can be found in a whitewashed room or the landscaping of a home’s exterior when it is the primary or only color. It is almost as if this choice by the owner is saying that the quality will speak for itself and an exuberant color isn’t necessary.

I have gathered a handful of rooms this week ranging from living rooms, to bathrooms, as well as the facade of homes as well.  Have a look, and while I know with children, this is typically a very impractical idea, imagine a room, maybe your office or your master bedroom,  where this aesthetic would be possible.  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the idea of white for a home. Have a wonderful Tuesday.

I love white, too. I was leery to use too much of it in "living" rooms with a lot of action, which was why I wanted to use it for the kitchen. That's not happening right now, but I do so love the look of a clean, white kitchen!

I adore the looks you've collected here. I've always had a romantic notion of someday having a cottage by the sea, decorated in white... Have a beautiful day Shannon!

I love white and as the others mentioned, dream of it becoming reality in my home one day. However, with 2 silly dogs and a teenage boy I can see how it would be hard to keep clean. I love the kitchen picture in this post too.

There's just something about an all-white room ... you can almost breathe easier. And the tiny hits of color introduced really sing! For instance, pale pale tiffany blue is actually my favorite color. Never dark blue. As a child, I used to get an ice cream cone called "Blue Moon" that was that pale blue-green color even though I didn't like the flavor. It was the color I'd always pick in the crayon box. And I don't like the greyed-down-pale-blues popular these days -- they don't make me happy. But, I only like the pale blue in small hits in decorating, like a beautiful pale blue-green plate on a white marble counter or a glossy pale tiffany blue bench in a garden ... they become more special by the neutral around them :)

Doesn't that dark wood just stand out with everything else white. The room is perfect.
