This & That: No. 73

An article to speak to your French style, a simple organizational trick, a book bag to love and more . . .

1. French Women Style: French Trend Lesson – Elle Canada

With simple tips such as wear your ‘Sunday best’ every day, ideas for modest elegance and options for the black jacket, a reader shared this Elle Canada article with me, and I just had to pass along to you. Enjoy!

2. What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast by Laura Vanderkam

Earlier this summer I mentioned Laura Vanderkam’s book What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast, and now it is finally available. Just released today, a wonderful book for rebooting your daily routine for a successful start to the new season.

3. The Great Gatsby

While the reviews were mixed and perhaps you, like me, have yet to see Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby, you can now take in all the glamour, drama and dazzle and make up your own mind about the film as the DVD is released today.

4. Cord Tacos

Nothing is more irritating than having to unwind knotted cords for your iPod or iPhone. This simple leather cord holder (or taco) is the tool to help. Place in your purse, in your desk drawers or wherever else you store your cords when they’re not in use, and quickly grab them and go when the need arises.

5. DVF Paula knee high boots (black, cherry or nude suede)

Now is the time to stake out your favorite boots for the fall/winter season. While you may not purchase them now, you will want to save and keep an eye on them as they will undoubtedly go on sale in a few months. Diane von Furstenberg’s wedge knee high boots are classic with a touch of modern. Perhaps just what you were looking for?

6. Winnie the Pooh tote

I saw this tote and fell in love. The saying is what we all need to keep in mind and have handy especially on those tough days. Purchase as a gift for your niece/nephew or son/daughter that is beginning school this fall or pick one up for yourself to store all of your favorite reading material.

Thank you for posting the article on French women style! As a Toronto resident, I didn't know this French shop existed so I'm very excited to go check it out this weekend! I don't spend much time in Queen west, it's downtown, quirky and maybe almost kind of hipster...but knowing there is a real Parisian shop there definitely makes me want to visit:) I think that most North American based clothing companies lack the French style/touch, so if I can satisfy my love of Parisian style at this store then that would certainly make my wait between visits to Paris a tad bit easier!

P.S. From looking up the store online, it seems it just opened a year ago, and includes not only clothes, but furniture...everything is from France. Very excited so I thank you so much again for the great tip!! If you want, I will e-mail a little review after my visit:)
