Vote!

"I never doubted that equal rights was the right direction. Most reforms, most problems are complicated. But to me there is nothing complicated about ordinary equality." –Alice Paul

Regardless of who or what you are voting for, remember that the right to vote did not come easy. Remember that the right to vote is not something to be taken for granted, but is an exercise in being a responsible citizen – man or woman.

As Oregon celebrated the one hundredth anniversary of women earning the right to vote in their state yesterday, take some time to do the necessary research on the candidates and ballot measures, and make the decision that is best for your life, your family, your community and your country.  We will never all agree on what that decision is, but as long as we continue to take responsibility for our lives and the direction we wish to go, we are still striving to move forward to a better tomorrow.

While often it seems one vote may not make a difference, remember that only 543 decided the Presidential election in 2000 (the state of Florida). Even though today may be quite stressful and anxiety-ridden for many, be thankful that we have an opportunity to have a voice, to have a say and to be a part of being the curators of what is yet to come. Not everyone can say that.

“Independence is happiness.” - Susan B. Anthony
