Michelle Williams - Vogue US – October 2011
Cast to play Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming film directed by Simon Curtis titled My Week with Marilyn, 31-year-old actress Michelle Williams appears to be pulling off the portrayal of the iconic Marilyn very well (this is her second Vogue cover (October 2009). Photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the cover of the October issue of American Vogue, “the film tracks Monroe during a week she abandoned her Hollywood career to spend time with Colin Clark (Redmayne), a lowly assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, who escorted Monroe around Britain after her new husband, playwright Arthur Miller left the country”. The script is based on the 1956 diaries of British filmmaker Colin Clark. Also starring in the movie are Eddie Redmayne (The Other Boleyn Girl), Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Dominic Cooper (An Education), Emma Watson, and Julia Ormond.
The world premiere will be October 9th at the New York Film Festival where it will be the centerpiece. I must say, I am intrigued and will look forward to seeing Marilyn portrayed as she supposedly was aside from her public image. Read her interview with Vogue writer Adam Green here.
