Cups of Tea 9/26-10/2

A more exquisite first weekend of October couldn’t have been ordered.  Clear blue sky, calm temperate weather and the opportunity to take in a football game, as well as some exercise for myself.

I hope your weekend has been a wonderfully kind gesture for your efforts you have put in this last week. The pumpkins are appearing at the farmer’s markets and grocery stores, so hopefully next weekend, my porch will have a hint of orange to help greet any guests that knock on the front door.

This week’s Cups of Tea revolves loosely around the theme of being an adult.  Whether it be on how an adult should behave, to the lingerie an adult woman can enjoy, to the beautiful closets to hang all of her lovely garments in, I think you’ll find something here this week that you might enjoy.

1. Create Your Perfect Closet

The ever enthusiastic, optimistic and inspiring Franki Durbin of Life In A Venti Cup put together a wonderful series this week on creating The Perfect Closet. After all, there’s nothing quite as inspiring as walking into a closet that is beautifully decorated.  One can’t help but become beautiful as well with the clothes she chooses.  So go ahead and begin with Part I and be sure to read Part II and Part III as well.

2. Vintage Appeal

Knowing you are wearing fantastic undergarments is a way of carrying a bit of mystery everywhere you go, and Alison and Gail of Frou Frou Fashionista shared this beautiful editorial of vintage lingerie.  Have a look.

3. Be The Best Grown-Up You Can Be

It is said that everyone becomes an adult based simply on one’s  age, but being a grown-up is an entirely different concept - something that requires responsibility to be taken and certain perspectives on how live is to be lived. Barrie of Live Bold & Bloom shares a thought provoking check-list for all of us to read to see just how well we are doing at being grown-ups.

4. All Stone & Beautiful

Daniella of Dress, Design & Decor shares with her readers gorgeous images every day, but this week I especially found her post on an old stone home quite becoming.  Its cottage-like feel and strong structure works well to be an inviting home I wouldn’t mind spending a long weekend away in out in the country.

5. Be Courageous

The majority of us tend to aspire to live an amazing life, but the question really lies in how courageous are we willing to be to achieve the dreams we set out for ourselves.  Sasha of Everything Fabulous shared a quote that gave me pause, and I had to share with you.  Take a look.

"Do not waste your life, because life is there-all you have to do is reach out and embrace it. Anything is possible. Whatever your dream is, make it happen. Have courage. Start today. You will be amazed what life will give you in return for a little bit of courage.

Courage is a choice.

Be certain of one thing: The measure of your life will be the measure of your courage."

-Matthew Kelly

I love that quote. I recently moved from California to New York City, leaving everything behind and have been feeling a little lost ever since. That quote reminded why I did it and why I should keep going forward instead of turning back.
