Regal Elegance
Politics aside and speaking solely from the viewpoint of someone who adores fashion and is always looking to beautiful, tall women to glean ideas from, I was awestruck by Michelle Obama at this past Tuesday’s State Dinner held at the White House. Ikram Goldman again chose an elegant gown that accentuated some of the first lady’s strongest features and truly stole the show. A one-shoulder cobalt blue design by American designer Peter Soronen (who has been the choice three other times – see the gowns below) was simply beguiling.
Soronen said when asked for comment on the gown,“I love the structured bodice that I do for her. I put it in a lot of dresses . . .and then I drape and pin and stitch all that lightweight chiffon, and I love that look on her.”
Which of his four designs is your favorite? It’s a toss up for me between the strapless sequin black gown worn at the White House’s annual Governor’s Ball (which was dripping in pearls – maybe that is was sold it for me) and her most recent choice. Regardless, he knows how to dress Michelle.

She is one beautiful woman. What I would give to be tall!
She is indeed very regal in bearing. The first dress is stunning on her, but it "pinches" at the the side of the dress which I'm not terribly keen on. She looks noble in that gorgeous black gown, though, and I'm quite like her in the purple dress!
My favorite is the first one, because it has such a bright color and fits very well with her hair and skin color. She just looks stunning! Hm, I wish our Chancellor (Germany) would look that attractive, but okay she is doing much better than in the beginning already!
