New And Trusted Holiday Traditions

The arrival of Thanksgiving marks the official start to the month-long festive holidays of mistletoe, sweet treats, jolly healthy old men with white full beards, the the ringing of bells, the wishes of children and the hustle and bustle of many brimming full of hopes and wishes for what may be.

Along with this month of holiday spirit is the following of many traditions that have been passed down from family members and loved ones.  And while there are many that are cherished, as you will see from my list below, you will also find a list of traditions I hope to begin because a tradition should only remain alive if it promotes hope, optimism and beautiful memories.  Sometimes traditions need to be gently let go of to make room for others that are more telling of the people who hold them dear.

So out of curiosity, which traditions will you be holding on to and which do you wish to add to your holidays this season?  I’d love to hear.  Here is a peek at a few of my ideas for my life . . .

. . . a special bottle of wine for the big holiday dinner . . .

 

. . . turning the day of the Christmas tree hunting in a full day affair, choosing the perfect tree, trudging through the snow, picking up some hot cocoa and goodies, and dressing the tree to holiday music upon arrival at home . . .

. . . watching cherished holiday films (The Holiday Inn) . . .

. . . sending a little love to the friends I won’t be able to see due to distance (gift certificates to Starbucks so we can share a cup of coffee together, if only while holding each other in our thoughts as we treat ourselves) . . .

. . . and sharing homemade holiday goodies with my neighbors.

 

New

. . . a much deserved and cherished spa day . . .

 

. . . hiring a house cleaner the day before the special event . . .

. . . snuggling up by the fire with fabulous company, champagne & chocolate . . .

. . . warm croissants to be enjoyed the morning after the big day . . .

. . . getting away . . .

 

. . . and focusing on the moments, rather than the things.
