This & That: No. 80

Some delightful finds to share with you this week – a fantastic blog to peruse through, two books to dive into and enjoy, my new favorite decor for the office and more . . .

1. Manger

Mimi Thorisson’s French living and food blog, Manger, is a sight to see and devour. I recently learned of her blog in Bon Appetit’s recent entertaining issue as she shares a glimpse into her life in the French countryside of Medoc. With simple entertaining ideas that are certain to satiate and impress guests, stop by to pick up a few of her tips for the upcoming holiday season.

2. Forever Chic: French Woman’s Secrets for Timeless Beauty, Style and Substance

Tish Jett’s first book Forever Chic is released today, and having pre-ordered, I can’t wait to arrive home from work as it should be waiting for me at my door. As an American journalist and blogger living in France, Tish has spent years observing the mysteriously intoxicating, and ever stylish French woman shares regularly her discoveries in her blog A Femme d’un Certain Age. And while you can still follow her daily on her blog, her book has now become available. I can’t wait to begin reading.

3. Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

After fourteen years, Helen Fielding has revived the beloved female hero readers rooted for as she stumbled her way into romance and the life she dreamed about. Bridget Jones, now a single mother (sadly, but necessarily, Darcy has passed away a few years prior) navigating her way through the new technologies that seem anything but freeing, maintains the voice of neuroticism, yet sharp wit readers came to love in Mad About the Boy which is released today.

4. Home Made Simple

Season 3 of Home Made Simple on OWN begins this Saturday (October 19th) at 9 am with a brand new host that many will recognize – Punky Brewster – aka as Soleil Moon Frye. As a married mother of two, Soleil takes couples – married, best friends, mother and daughters as well as sibings through a make-over of a room of their choice. With DIY tricks and tips, the Home Made Simple team is busy sharing inspiration for viewers to use in their own homes to turn it into their own unique sanctuary (pun intended).

5. Tory Burch

Tory Burch’s latest business venture is her new fragrance and beauty line which offers a blend of feminine florals and tomboy casuality and moxy. Having had the opportunity to sample, I must say, I loved the soft touch of spring blooms, yet subtle citrus undertones which offer a lovely balance.

6. Stendig calendar

Always looking for a simpler way to organize my editorial schedule, when I popped over for my regular catch up at Michael Wurm Jr’s blog Inspired by Charm, I noticed his Stendig wall calendar and immediately became a fan. Measuring three by four feet, this black and white calendar organized with the European week layout (Monday first) provides a wonderful visual of the month ahead and provides chic decoration for the office. For $36 dollars, start prepping for 2014 and purchase a few post-its while you’re at it. I can’t wait for mine to arrive! Click here to order.
