Style Inspiration: Details
(Shop Tory Burch "Caroline' ballerina flats here)
Over the weekend, I began going through my closet, trying to pare it down to the 10 Item Capsule Wardrobe that Jennifer L. Scott writes about in Lessons from Madame Chic.
After eliminating anything that either didn’t fit, was worn out or didn’t mesh with my signature style any more, my closet had much more breathing space, and I had a few extra hangers. More important than that however, was that I had zeroed in on what worked for my figure, my lifestyle and my skin tone. I then went on to make a list of anything I still needed (which was actually a lot less than I had expected), and what I discovered was that my foundational wardrobe simply needed touches of unique and fabulous accessories – scarves, earrings, belts, handbags, necklaces, shoes, etc.
So with that in mind, today’s Style Inspiration focuses on the details. Paired with quality foundational pieces that fit and best flatter you, you are able to have less in your closet, but always look chic when you mix and match with different accessories that speak to your personality and adhere to your signature style.

OK, I want everything on this page!!!
I am a sucker for the "details"! Thanks for the reminder to clean my closet!
i love your blog
I have the black ZARA sandals and have been eying those Rachel Zoe whitish sandals posted on one of your pictures. I realized I've been spending money on buying very similar outfits. Now I try to be more conscious and spend it on pieces that I can pair with what I have and add a touch of something interesting/different. Great post!

Omg I just went to shoe heaven while reading this post. Fighting the urge to go buy ten pairs of shoes right now!
I read a synopsis of the book - one of her recommendations is to wear "luxurious lingerie" ... which causes me to ask if "The Simply Luxurious Life" would consider sussing out sources for those of us rather ordinary readers. Luxurious lingerie is hard to find...where do you suggest we look?
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your blog and the positive messages you highlight throughout the week. I have found that it's helped me to be more thoughtful about how I choose to spend my time, money, energy. The images from the Oscar de la Renta show earlier this week were lovely indulgence too!
Beautiful and I love the tory burch flats.
Have a splendid week.
I love this post and it's something I've been doing recently (reducing my clothes down to what I love) but now we're changing one of our rooms into my new study and that involves giving away a set of drawers that I've 'remembered' holds more clothes that I was just pretending weren't there... so now it's time to go through those and really commit to my new capsule wardrobe :) Thanks for reminding me I've got company on my journey for less clothes but a beautiful wardrobe full of what I love, xxx
Where can I find the black and white heels pictured with the cuffed jeans?
I will certainly keep you updated regarding the book launch. Currently, it is scheduled for November, and while it is awhile away, it is worth the way. A wonderful resource.
Such a post is in the works! Thank you for sharing your interest. I think it is a great idea for a post. :)
I believe the shoes you are speaking of are from Rachel Zoe and her line is old at Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Happy shopping!
